scoops
finally! got to sample some tasty flavor combos at scoops. who knew this little corner of town by lacc was such a mini hipster enclave?

thai iced tea, lemon & basil (sadly sold out), and mango & tarragon. other flaves that i wanted to try, but were out: apricot & lime sorbet, vegan raspberry & balsamic vinegar (yup).

get this, $2 for 2 scoops. we ended up with thai iced tea/jamaica (hibiscus) & mango and peppermint tiramisu/brown bread.

the flavor suggestion board was bursting with ideas. human baby ... mmm?

helen was trying to catch the eye of the owner tai himself, licking away at her coffee peanut butter/vegan oreo treat. we spoke to him as we were leaving and he told us that what you see is what you get. if the flavor is called bacon caramel, it's got real bacon fat mixed in with the ice cream. yum. since when did having all natural ingredients become a novelty? other flavors done: brie & fig, gorgonzola & pear, foie gras & onion, even nicotine! amazing.

fast times

after being foiled twice, we finally made it in to a hollywood forever cemetery screening. and for none other than fast times at ridgemont high.

the grounds were packed with picnickers, some travelling light, others with their primo living room set ups. one group even brought an enormous furry brown beanbag the size of a vw bug, or a burrito on steroids, or jabba the hutt. we jumped to pass the time before the show, as cowboy boot balloons flew in the air and djs played 80s tunes.

just classic as ever.
